Transportation and economic development are closely linked. Economic development stimulates transportation demand by increasing commercial, industrial and residential growth. These increased demands create the need for transportation improvements.

As more and more people choose to take advantage of all that our area has to offer, we must ensure that the transportation infrastructure will be in place to serve our needs now and in the future. Thankfully, our elected leaders in Hickory Creek and Denton County have worked in close partnership with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). This productive relationship has resulted in many transportation successes. Almost every major roadway within Denton County has been or is in the process of being cleared environmentally, with design in production, or is already under construction.

In addition to our regional and local roadway infrastructure, our area has convenient access to exceptional international and municipal airports as well as a growing light rail and bus system.
