Local Roads

In real estate, the three most important factors are location, location and location. It is much the same in economic development. The three most important factors are infrastructure, infrastructure and infrastructure. In May 2007, the citizens of Hickory Creek overwhelmingly approved a $2.8 million bond package for street improvements.

Along with a voter-approved $1.75 million bond package for municipal storm water drainage and flood control improvements, the total bond package of $4.55 million showed a strong community commitment to infrastructure and transportation, both of which are necessary to drive economic development and improve the quality of life in Hickory Creek.

Point Vista Road has been approved by the Hickory Creek Economic Development Corporation and the Planning & Zoning Commission, along with every landowner and business concern in the affected area, to be extended from Ronald Reagan Avenue to intersect with Parkridge Drive to the west. This expansion will help create a commercial corridor in Hickory Creek and increase the flow of traffic to the Cornelius Town Center and our future town center core.

Additionally, when construction begins on FM 2181, drivers will seek to bypass the anticipated congestion traveling to and from I-35E and the Lake Lewisville Toll Bridge. Extending Point Vista Road to Parkridge Drive will provide an alternative path that routes vehicles away from Turbeville Road and into our developing commercial corridor.

Ronald Reagan Avenue is being considered for expansion to its full 4-lane potential by the Hickory Creek Economic Development Corporation. The road would extend north to its intersection with Point Vista Road from where it currently narrows to two lanes behind Wal-Mart. Its improvement would route additional traffic to our developing commercial corridor and improve the appearance of our community.
